Despite the pandemic, the FabLab team have continued to be busy supporting its many client, mainly through remote working but they’re now able to welcome visitors back into the Lab.
To keep everyone safe, the team have set up a booking system so that you can be confident that there will be a member of staff in the Lab to support you but that there will be no-one else working there. For your safety the team have marked up socially distanced workspaces around the equipment so that they and you know that you’re working together but safely apart. The team is fully kitted out with PPE and are asking visitors to wear masks at all times too. The Lab and Cardiff School of Art &Design have also established a one-way system, again to minimise contact between staff, students and visitors.
Laser cutting, 3D printing, CNCing and CAD design work are currently being undertaken with and for clients. Clients usually load their own 3D prints but to save time and manage visitor numbers, the team are now doing this for everyone free of charge.
The FabLab team are also offering remote one to one software training session including in SolidWorks, Illustrator and Fusion 360 and can deliver session in the evening as well as during the day.
